Work Out Our Own Salvation

Work Out Our Own Salvation

A lot of decisions that Christians make are done in complete ignorance. Unfortunately, Believers have relied on American church leaders to educate them and failed to study the Word for themselves, resulting in unknown compromise. Their ears are tickled, but they do not understand the deeper things of God and lack discernment. The product of this is that they live a life of choices that entrap them in unknown sin, resulting in curses and detrimental consequences, but it doesn't make them any less saved. Most people will tell you they love Jesus and even believe they are living for Him.
You see, when you know better, you do better. Once you know the truth, you are held to a higher standard of living. If you choose unwisely after learning the truth, that is a different discussion altogether.
Please do not hear what I'm not saying. Christians should not live as the world lives. If you know me at all, you know that I speak against sin and often call for repentance without apology, but I also believe we must work out our OWN salvation with fear and trembling before the Lord. Although we are all on a journey, we are not all at the same point in the road.
I believe in grace. I also know a Jesus who fashioned a whip. However, making blanket statements that someone cannot be a Christian because they are or have made a poor decision is simply untrue. We must do better at educating and discipling people. Arrogance and judgment without knowledge or any chance for repentance never pulled anyone out of the pit. God is calling us higher and expecting more from the Remnant.

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
