The Remnant

The Remnant

July 10, 2022

I am raising up a remnant army, and the generals will not be who the world expects. They are ordinary in the eyes of men but will do extraordinary work for the kingdom. They are the unknown and unlikely. I will bring the Davids from the fields before the great harvest. Because they seek after my heart, I will make them giant-slaying kings in the spirit. My remnant is the mistreated and misunderstood. I will exalt the Joseph's to high positions. Because they are my children, they have my favor and shall not want. They are the overlooked and outcasts. I will use the Rahab's to crumble the walls of the hard-hearted and lost. Because they faithfully serve me, I will keep my promise to be their shield and protection. My remnant desperately seeks me day and night and cries out for their Savior. They fear only me, for I am their God who is restoring, preparing, and positioning them to be my vessels. These are the days they will remember as the beginning of a great revival.

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

1 Corinthians 1:26‭-‬31 NIV

Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate, and a fresh start—comes from God through Jesus Christ. That’s why we have the saying, “If you’re going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God.”

1 Corinthians 1:26‭-‬31 MSG

Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other, and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored his name. “On the day when I act,” says the Lord Almighty, “they will be my treasured possession. I will spare them, just as a father has compassion and spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.

Malachi 3:16‭-‬18 NIV

So too, at the present time there is a remnant chosen by grace.

Romans 11:5 NIV

Daughter Zion is left like a shelter in a vineyard, like a hut in a cucumber field, like a city under siege. Unless the Lord Almighty had left us some survivors, we would have become like Sodom; we would have been like Gomorrah.

Isaiah 1:8‭-‬9 NIV
